A new gate at the entrance to West Campus is currently in the planning and development stages.

Bruce Harshbarger, vice president for Student Affairs and dean of students, is one of the faculty members on the project. If approved, the project will be conducted jointly by the city of Milledgeville and Baldwin County.

GCSU's Sodexo is currently planning renovations that they hope will draw a more overall positive student review. Kyle Cullars, executive director of Auxiliary Services has been overseeing these developments.

"Coming in May 2011, there will be major renovations," Cullars said.

For the past year and a half, GCSU has been working with the Georgia Department of Transportation, as well as the city of Milledgeville, to install a new red light at the intersection of West Campus Drive and the 441 bypass.

After originally being approved, many budget cuts and discussions about the light have led to the conclusion it is unnecessary.

On Friday August 20 in the early hours of the morning Tim Long president of the Student Government Association (SGA) of Jacksonville State University, was arrested for urinating in the side of the Brothers Bar parking lot. At the time of his arrest, Long was charged with exposure and lewd conduct.
