"My job is to get the Falcons message out there and protect the players," Crews said.
The job with the Falcons is very challenging. It often requires Crews to go above and beyond the call of duty, including working on holidays and weekends. He writes and coordinates The Media Guide for the Falcons, which is a 700 page book that lists the statistics of the players throughout the season. The Media Guide usually takes six months to create. In addition, he creates a weekly book of about 60 pages for player statistics from game to game.
"There's no one thing I do, everyday is new," Crews said.
Crews spoke highly of both his occupation and his boss, Arthur Blanks. He discussed how Blanks continues to notice the big picture of the Falcons, something that most businesses lack.
"He [Blanks] will ask what do you need, with him money is no object," Crews noted.
Crews considers his family an inspiration to continue his career path and values the importance of mentors and effecting positivism on the future professionals. He credits the early mentors such as Bill Hamilton for introducing him to his career. With all of his early success, Crews has yet to reach the pinnacle of professional success, he notes his plans to further his career as a team executive or general manager in the future.
According to Gooch, this program is just the beginning in a series of seminars highlighting local professionals and their careers. She encourages students to participate in these activities because of the internship opportunities that could transpire from them.
"It's for your benefit and your edification," Gooch said.
