With running cross-country in the fall and then track in the spring, sophomore runner Miles Gaddy expects to have a degree in one hand and a good job in the other at the end of his college career at Clark Atlanta University. He is originally from Boston but moved to Atlanta from another town in Massachusetts.
His major is business administration with a concentration in supply-chain management. With that, he plans to become a certified supply-chain manager. Gaddy has only been running cross-country/track since his senior year at Amherst Regional High School, which makes this year his third one running. Cross-country, as well as track and field, is an arduous sport. "I want to be the best, so that's what keeps me motivated," Gaddy replied when asked what keeps him encouraged to run.
He does think the balancing of collegiate level running and college itself is a hard task, but he assures that he does do his best. "School work comes first," he commented as well.
According to Gaddy, most of the runners on the cross-country team also participate in track and field. Because it is many of the same faces on both teams, "There aren't really any fights or discrepancies," Gaddy said of how well the team gets along.
The men's team placed 5th overall this year after placing
6th last year. "We did better in conference, but I think the men's team has grown a lot because of the new people and good performances," Gaddy said. His predictions for the track team this upcoming spring are that the season's success will be similar to that of the cross-country team's season. "We will have a strong track season as well," Gaddy ended. He does "love" to travel to compete, the only downfall of that is the class work that must be made up. As far as what brought Gaddy down to CAU, he already knew that he wanted
to come to school in Atlanta. "I wanted to be somewhere where it is competitive in sports," he revealed.
