CAU's chapter is one of the largest student chapters in the southern region with a membership of over 50 members, but to President Danielle Porter, a senior accounting major, it is more than just a campus organization.
As president, she wants to ensure that NABA members are not only prepared for their chosen career fields but have relationships with professionals in the field.
"I want to make sure that every member of NABA has the opportunity to intern and to network with not only accounting firms, but government agencies and Fortune 500 companies as well," Porter said.
NABA has hosted meet-and-greets with representatives from Ernst &Young, KPMG, and Deloitte, which are three of the "Big 4" accounting firms in the country.
"They came in to talk about the elements of success within the industry as well as opportunities for internships and employment," Porter said.
"They really want to work with CAU students because they know we produce the best. They've seen us in action."
CAU students will also have an opportunity to network with the partners and professional staff of PricewaterhouseCoopers, the fourth "Big 4" firms, at a golf outing. They have also planned to host a CAU spades tournament for students on campus.
"Our chapter really has a lot in store for this year and we encourage everyone to take advantage of the opportunities that we are fortunate enough to bring to our campus. We're not open to only accounting students, students in all majors can benefit," Porter said.
NABA meets every first and third Wednesday of the month in Wright Hall in room 208 from 12:15pm until 1:30pm and is open to everyone. "Our motto is 'Lifting as We Climb' and we want to make sure we're doing that here at CAU," Porter said.
