One of the main objectives for the new dean of the School of Education, Dr. Sean Warner, is to reestablish a strong connection with the community and the Atlanta districts.

Warner was chosen to lead the Education Department through its mission of professional development, initiative, learning and community after Interim Dean, Dr. Trevor Turner, completed his term in 2009.

Dr. Warner wants to continue that mission by helping "schools and districts with increasing the student achievement to bring a strong presence in the neighboring counties."

Dr. Warner's vision for the institution is to vacate avenues for undergraduates and graduates to actively pursue education as researchers, mentors and professional leaders. There are programs offered in childhood and secondary education, which will prepare students for administrative roles and as school counselors and teachers.

His foundation for learning and achievement coexists with his ability to create partnerships with three laboratory schools: elementary, middle and high schools, including other institutions such as Grambling State University where he was the former dean of the School of Education. He hopes to duplicate the same initiative for Clark Atlanta by expanding it on an international level.

"I want to internationalize across the waters in places like Ghana, Ethiopia-I do have connections in Armenia and those are the countries under my radar," he said.

In his conception framework, he encourages future scholars to impact the masses and be intellectually serious about their craft.
